Exhibition
Natureza Morta - Steal Life
André Ribeiro / Juan Carmona thestudio
15. 09.2020 - 30.12.2020
This is an exhibition about sense of ownership.

More than cataloguing the reality that surround us, its aim is to make us question our relationship with nature in its essence – a means of examining the concept of sense of appropriation intrinsic to the human condition.

The use of living beings for our entertainment and enjoyment is so ingrained in society that we do not question its “humanity”.

Unlike traditional representations of still life, “Steal Life” is an artistic interpretation of human interaction with all living matter, focusing on our exploitation and false sense of power over life and death.

It is a view of the eternal human interface.

Although this exhibition was developed before the pandemic, Steal Life explores the dichotomy of the relationship between Nature - Man and its framework raises topical issues.

The con nement humans impose on animals (in crates, cages, fish tanks, etc.) has become ironic in the current panorama.
